Unable to run, I volunteered at a water stop at the 20 in 24 running event last weekend, benefiting Back on my Feet.  I have done many many water stops in my day, and I’m used to setting things up for speed and efficiency.  I have perfected my ability to hold the cup for a flawless spill-free handoff, so the runner doesn’t even have to slow down.  But this one was a whole different ball game.  First of all, there were hardly any runners passing, and most of them were on leg three to six (each leg being 8.25 miles) so speed wasnt really a consideration at that point.  Mostly they came ambling up, took a cup of each, water and Gatorade, and sometimes even stopped to chat.  So, the challenge was to keep busy.  But it was a beautiful day.ImageImage
